Academy & Select
YMCA STRIKER SOCCER
| STRIKER Select Division players are chosen through a skills evaluation and selection process and placed on Academy, Classic, and Athena teams playing competitive soccer. Our Classic and Athena teams represent Cobb YMCA and are a product of our recreational and academy soccer programs. Players on these teams have commitments for 1 year, after which they will be asked to compete again in an evaluation process to determine the composition of the team for the upcoming year. They play against competitive divisions from other leagues and associations, requiring some travel around Metro Atlanta or outlying counties. Older teams at higher levels may incur some travel around the state. |
| The Classic Program is the most competitive level for boys. The number of teams in each division is determined by participation, being divided into Classic I and Classic II, Classic I being the highest. |
| The Athena Program is for girls who want to play competitive level soccer and are committed to the game seriously. The divisions are A-D, with level A being the highest. |

| Expectations of Academy Players: Practice twice a week, with optional specialized third practice More intense practice focused on fundamental and skill development. Willingness to travel, Pre and Post season tournaments, Team Camp held in July, Competitive attitude with a willingness to learn and enjoys soccer |
